Fake Followers?!

Talking with a friend about US Politics, and we laughed pondering if one candidate ran again, if he would once again purchase thousands of friends on his internet social media. And what a light bulb moment that was for me!

I now have a blog. I am engaged in this world of social media. I love my new website, and am excited to see what I can build. Spent some time reading about ‘buying followers’, and it is really an off putting weird thing to me.  It makes me more determined than ever to build an actual community and engage in that community personally.

I thought I would share two of these articles  with all of you and ask what your thoughts are on it. Hope everyone is having a restful weekend.

  1. I think the whole idea of buying followers is very sad. It is surely one of the seedier aspects of the internet… a human’s need to be popular. Makes me nauseous to be honest. Of course everyone would like to be heard and valued for their contribution and so they should, but fake followers are nothing to do with that. It is just a pretence – a lie. I don’t think anything is to be gained from it in the end. Certainly no real sense of community, which is what I hope to grow on my small blog.

    1. I totally agree with you, Kim. I am getting really grounded in what I want my website to be. I am glad I brought this up though because I just bet there are many other new bloggers who are not even aware that this phenomenon exists or some of the inherent problems in it.

As always, thank you for showing up! All my best to you.

    1. Thank you for showing up at my blog and choosing to follow me! I am certain you are not the only one who has not heard of “buying followers,” and some of the issues and problems associated with it. I wish you the very best.
