The Peace of Wild Things
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life
and my children’s lives
may be,
I go and lie down
where the wood drake rests
in his beauty on the water,
and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives
with forethought of grief.
I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light.
For a time
I rest in the grace of the world,
and am free.”
― Wendell Berry, The Selected Poems of Wendell Berry
May everyone seek and find their peace this weekend.
Lovely photo. 🙂
And Wonderful World is one of my favourite songs!
P.S. How have you made your blog snow?!

Thank you Richard.
SNOW: Go to your Word Press Administrative Section. Go to Settings. Go To General. Run your eyes down the list of blue colored choices on the left and down near the bottom there will be one for turning your snow on. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine.

Beautiful and serene. Just what a person needs every now and then just to get away from the madness in the world today. Thanks for sharing.

Oh, it’s beautiful. Okay that’s my dream. I’m going to get enough money and my wife, Sadako, and I are going to pack up and go to a place where there’s water…and trees…and frogs in the spring and water birds in the winter and there I’ll write and write and write. And of course post blogs! Thank you and I love the song. A big ol favorite.

Thank you ! The flakes make everything so beautiful and peaceful 🙂
But do you know if this feature works well in slower connections ? Meaning does it make it more difficult for people with slower connections to view our blogs ??

I am not a techie expert. I can only tell you my own experience. Before I was on WordPress or had a fast connection…I had a slow internet connection. It also got even slower during peak hours like Friday Afternoons and Monday mornings. My experience was that pictures loaded very slow or not at all, and videos were impossible to watch most of the time. I would ask the WordPress Support folks about this for a definitive answer. They are just the very best tech support you can have and will be able to tell you what.
I love my snowflakes, yes WordPress can even create weather!
All my best to you. Have a good weekend.

Beautiful post !
Louis Armstrong is one of mine “go-to’s for beauty , and I like this song very very much.
(But crazy brain that I have , every single time I listen to it , a commercial for Nescafe pops into my mind – it was a beautiful one though – a lonely girl by dawn , leaning into a VW Beetle on a cliff by the beach , sipping on a mug of steaming hot coffee) 😉
Turtle Hugs and thanks for the beauty (let’s have a peaceful weekend)

Hi Johanna. Thank you for your visit to my blog, great to meet you. I loved reading this poem, particularly the lines “who do not tax their lives
with forethought of grief.
I come into the presence of still water”
Then you took me back in time to a favorite piece of nostalgia with this great Louis Armstrong song. Thank you. Chevvy
