“I want to see young people in America
Feel the spirit of the 1960s
And find a way to get in the way.
To find a way to get in trouble.
Good trouble, necessary trouble.”
In my flower garden when I heard the news of John Lewis’s passing. John Lewis has been an inspiration to me since the 1960’s, and most recently several weeks ago when during a TV interview he was optimistic about the changes to come, the variety of people joining the young to demonstrate their belief in equality and justice for everyone. It felt good to hear the voice of someone who had always spoke truth to power with clarity and in peace. I am glad that he stayed to see the young people coming up rise to embrace Equality, Democracy, and Fairness, to continue not only his good work, but the work of all those who came before, and will come next.
“Never give up. Never give in. Never become hostile… Hate is too big a burden to bear.”
Peace and Blessings to each and everyone. Thank you for supporting JoHannaMassey.com. Stay safe, help who and how you can, speak truth to power, and stir up as much of John Lewis’s good trouble as necessary.
