Absolutely. My husband and I fixed up a Big Old Southern LadyHouse and the attic was just full of old photos, books, letters,
paintings and drawings of the multi generations going back of the family who lived here.
Then, people started showing up to the door from the village introducing themselves and ‘returning’ things
to the house that they thought we should have. More photos, furniture, flower bulbs, and most important the stories.
Total history nirvana!
Thank you for dropping by my blog and leaving such kind comments. I like your blog. Your generous voice is lovely and you have such an interesting array of posts. Beautiful pictures too. I will be back to visit. Yes, excellent post on Buddha and what his enlightenment gave the world. I believe the only good blog followers are those who follow because they found something on a blog that resonates with them, not because they were paid to be there. In love and light Cheryle
Thank you, Cheryle.
This creating of and writing content for this website is quite new to me and I am just having quite a time dancing about with the possibilities!
I enjoy going out and about to see what others are doing with theirs and I am always getting so surprised at the diversity,
the high quality, and what interesting people are blogging. Will be showing up at your place soon for a visit.
I’ve been to the Hotel Del Coronado and loved it. Didn’t stay there but will one day. Love the feeling of the glamorous old days of dressing up for Hotel stays. x
Hi JoHanna: I have included you in a poetry challenge. If you are not into this sort of thing, please feel free not to participate. It is supposed to be fun. The challenge is to post a poem about what LOVE IS…. to you. The criteria are: the poem is 10 lines long, each line begins with the word love and is only 4 words long. When you have completed the poem post it and list 15 other bloggers you think would enjoy the challenge. You can read more about this challenge at https://lightwalker1.wordpress.com/. In love and light Cheryle
Hello: Genuinely appreciate the invite but I am deep into getting my photos in order to put onto my blog. Thanks for thinking of me though and supporting my efforts, as I support yours.
You most kindly left a lovely comment on one of my photos “British Museum” and the exciting news that you were considering featuring my blog on your own fantastic one! I am just replying here as I cannot directly reply when people post comments on specific images in one of the galleries on my blog.
Thank you for your generosity and for taking the time to consider me for your feature. I hope we can keep in touch! With best wishes for a bon weekend! TJ Paris 🙂

Love the photo from Pompeii. I tried to capture those frescoes with a zillion shots, but could never get one I liked. I found the ruins there fascinating, but very challenging from a photographic viewpoint.
Hi Johanna: I hope you don’t mind, I have challenged you to the 5 Day Black and White Photo challenge. No worries if you are unable to participate. This is for fun, after all. The criteria is to post 1 black and white photo for 5 consecutive days and to nominate another blogger each of the five days.

I love your photos JoHanna! Not least the “Negril, Jamaica” one because I am so lucky to have been born there and Negril is one of my fave places since I discovered it back in 2005. I left JA aged 4, so never got the chance to sample some of those beautiful places there ’til a visit there many years later. Thank you for posting this and making me feel all nostalgic ….
Wow! Thanks for stopping by my site this morning — so nice to meet you over my first cup of morning coffee! I am very new to writing poetry (Feb) and also to this blogging world (March) — but have found one of the most intriguing things is the “Return Policy” that seem inherent in this piece of cyberspace. As in someone Likes or decides to Follow me, and I get a clear path into their lives by returning to see their site. Most times, over my morning coffee (did I say coffee before? Can you tell I like my morning coffee?), I meander around and meet the most amazing people — their words, photos, art, — and somehow, with some, a connection is forged. Well, all I had to do was see the picture of your feet and know we are in some way, simpatico! Did you notice my feet? Granted, mine are bare, propped up in one of my favorite places (Cape Cod, during our annual two week retreat) and yours are in great hiking boots! BUT, we have the same perspective! 🙂 AND…..my hiking boots have literally been across the world…..one of the most fun places being Bryce Canyon and its hoodoos!
BUT, I digress, love your explanation as to why you’ve kept your blog title — yes, we do, over years (and I’ve been around many) lose some of our identity in the roles we have….or maybe it’s not that we lose it, it’s that it broadens out so much that we have trouble finding the core. Does that make sense? So I understand totally, JoHanna Massey, why you’re keeping the title. For me, it’s that I’ve suddenly found this way to get my voice out….a creative voice I knew I had in the way I played with my grandkids, thought up projects for them, love to dance (see my Self Portrait Poem: Dancer Down), can’t sit still when I here music….and who knew? By chance I took a poetry writing class in February, then decided this very untechie person should do some tutorials on WP and here I am! Meeting you, over coffee….(there’s that word again!).
Love that you’ve described some blogs for us Blogging 101ers….shall explore.
And, shall meander by again for sure…..maybe over tonight’s glass of wine 🙂
SO nice to meet you! See you tomorrow morning 🙂

Storyteller, traveler, life devotee, naturalist, ghostwriter, Grandmother, And a fairly good cook. ? Now, that list is enough to inspire anyone. On top of that, your ‘about’ page is so unique and so creative. All I can say is ‘WOW’ .
Hi there: I loved your line “years ago I found myself getting old”. I’m going to be 66 in September. For some reason this hit me like a ton of bricks. I’m just now writing my first fiction book, something I always wanted to do. What do you suppose makes us take a non intended path?
I think much of our self consciousness leaves us by the time we reach a certain age. It feels like we can come out to play again, and the options/choices are so much more open. Also is that knowledge of mortality. No good putting things off until later any more. We are smack in the middle of later! All my very best to you!
You almost sound like me. 🙂 That makes you highly relateable 🙂 I do wish spell checkers would break down and admit that relateable is a word. (Heavy sigh.) I love your site!
Dear Johanna 🙂
A picture speaks a thousand words and ten of them speak thousand and then some.
This is the only about page where I see no words. Unique!
Photographs are a great media to express who you are. One does have a camera and take a photograph or not! that’s who he is. One who have a photograph and delete it or protect it or share it, that’s who he is…….OK! I have to make a post about it some times.
however when I visited The About page of yours, I expected to see a long long! paragraphs about you. Which is a nightmare to me as I have some difficulties to read long posts on the computer screen. When I see photographs, I thought OK!
Hi Johanna, I love your blog and what you write! you sent me a lovely message a couple weeks ago! I just received it along with several other comments! Please accept my apologies for not responding until now!!!!
Hi and thank you for the follow! Looking at your own work, I feel very honoured. (And I love your “boots” shot, upper right… Like you, I have great affection for my boots: clothes are just clothes, but boots make the magic possible)
Yes, when I put these boots on…..they have within them over fifteen years of work, pleasure, exploration, travel, and care. And the memory of the boots that came before them.
Whenever I face a day or situation that is new, unknown, when I must feel my most powerful, strong, and keep my balance, I put my boots on. Been that way since I was a child.
It never occurred to me when making the decision to venture out onto the global internet, with a website of my own, to do anything but ‘put my boots on.’

So glad you stopped by, your kind words and for the follow. I’m also glad because your visit had me seeking out your website!
Just had a very nice visit to your website. Just thrilled for you to be having the expat experience so young and how much you are enjoying yourself. You have many pearls of wisdom and such a realistic perspective about the experience.
Thank you and all my best to you.
